Administrative Closure

Sometimes when you are in removal proceedings in Immigration Court, the government attorney will agree to what we call “prosecutorial discretion.” This means the government is deciding not to pursue the case and removal proceedings will stop and you will be allowed to remain in the country.
With administrative closure, you will also be able to remain in the country but your case is not terminated. So if you happen to get into trouble with the law, the government can reopen your case and place you back into removal proceedings.
